Six Myths About Home Solar Panels

  1. Solar panels are expensive, and the average family simply can’t afford them.  Solar is more affordable than ever due to rebate options from the State of California, a 30% tax credit from the federal government  and Solaire’s  ability to make San Diego solar energy systems affordable with multiple low interest financing options.
  2. The system will never pay for itself.  Solar is more than clean energy – it also makes good financial sense.   In many cases, a new system can start saving you and your family hundreds of dollars in the first year and eventually save you tens of thousands over the life of the system.
  3. My house won’t have power at night!  Excess energy produced during the day is sent back to the city power grid, where you will receive a credit for nighttime power when the solar power San Diego system is not producing energy due to the lack of sunlight.
  4. Solar doesn't work on cloudy days.  Though solar systems can produce more energy on sunny days, clouds don’t mean that solar panels can’t work.  Even if it’s cloudy, photovoltaic solar panels from Solaire Energy Systems will pick up enough sun light to help your home offset your large utility bills.
  5. Solar systems don’t work in cold weather or in the winter.  As long as excess snow is cleared off of the panels, they will continue to work in cold and snowy climates.
  6. Solar panels require a lot of maintenance.   Solar systems require a very low amount of maintenance.  Rinsing off the panels once or twice a month and cleaning them once or twice a year will be sufficient to keep your system working efficiently.
